My goal is to share the gift of music with my students in an exciting, positive learning environment. Most children who want to take voice lessons, whether or not they have professional aspirations, do so simply because they love to sing. As a teacher, I want to nurture that love and inspire my students to be their very best.
Each lesson is tailored to the individual student. I am just as passionate about the nine-year-old preparing for her first audition as I am about the high school senior auditioning for college musical theater programs. The differing needs and abilities of my students keep my job challenging and fun!
As I work to improve the technical aspects of the voice -- intonation, tone quality, projection, balance of registers, breath support, vowel integrity and diction -- my goal is to keep each student’s sound unique. It is important to have idols in the music industry, but imitating can be dangerous to vocal health. Instead, I like my students to keep their singing voice consistent with the sound of their own speaking voice. I favor a bright, focused, age-appropriate sound that is relevant and lends itself to contemporary musical styles.
As I see it, what makes Lisa Christine Studios, LLC special is the attention to performance values. While my primary function as a singing teacher is to improve the overall quality of the voice, I want my students to be a complete package! Good vocalists are a dime a dozen. Audiences crave performers who understand what they’re singing about; who make us feel the lyrics, not just hear them. I spend a good deal of time coaching my students’ acting on each piece they sing. In addition to sounding great, I want my young singers to look and feel comfortable in front of an audience or audition panel.
